Anke Eilergerhard’s ‘Kitchenplastics’ are brimming in their voluminous femininity and their delight in the sensuous handling of the material. In numerous layers the artist stacks ‘silicone cream puffs’ one atop the another in a pop-art fashion\, letting the works multiply into groups of work such as the WIRBELWINDE or the curvaceous\, appetising ANNAS. It is in this connection – in their fascinating combinations of layers and their powerful haptic quality – that one finds parallels to the dense\, impasto images in Dietmar Brixy’s group of works for ‘Discover – Painting’. By providing exemplary representations of scenarios of the transgression of boundaries – of time and space\, of nature and culture\, of place and painting – it is an expression of a gesamtkunstwerk conception despite its mono-medial character. Brixy’s concept of the penetration of life and painting is governed by an obsession with the realization of a painting of the whole\, and a personal embodiment of the whole. \nThe painter’s life provides a model for holistic experience\, characterized by a stimulating sensualism whose disquietude is transferred to the audience. DESCRIPTION:(…) The composition of each image is complex. Brixy is a robust painter\, and each of his images features a unique array of aromatic qualities that lend the work current relevance. Now it is the process that takes centre stage\, now a haptic moment of the painting’s surface itself\, and now we can even begin to imagine that the image has transcended the realm of mere object or commodity. Brixy constantly offers us new approaches\, allowing us to interact dynamically with the images. \nIt often seems as though a daredevil was doing a headstand on a razor’s edge.
