SUMMARY:Badischer Kunstverein
DESCRIPTION:Member exhibition 2020\nAs a former graduate of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe\, Brixy has for years maintained close ties to the city of Karlsruhe and its institutions\, including the Badischer Kunstverein. \n  \nThis was founded in 1818 and is the second oldest art association in Germany. The Badischer Kunstverein e.V. is a non-profit and registered association based in Karlsruhe\, which is dedicated to the mediation of contemporary art. It belongs to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV) and is one of the oldest German art associations. \n  \nSince 1900 he has been performing in the house built especially for his purposes at Waldstraße 3 in the centre of the city. On three floors and about 1\,000 square metres of exhibition space\, it has presented a stringent programme for the mediation and promotion of contemporary art since its foundation. Once a year\, works by artists* are presented in the context of the members’ exhibition. This year\, the artist Dietmar Brixy is represented with a large-format work from the current HAPPY series. \n  \n  \nDigital exhibition\nAs a result of the Corona Ordinance of the government of the state of Baden-Württemberg\, the Kunstverein will be closed until 20.12.2020. Due to the uncertain situation beyond this date the Kunstverein has decided to carry out the members’ exhibition of the year 2020 digitally. \n  \nFrom 20.12.2020 onwards\, the artists* artworks will be presented on the website of the Baden Kunstverein: \nwww.bkv-mitgliederausstellung.de \n  \nmore information at: www.badischer-kunstverein.de \n  \n  \nBrixy participation\n \nHappy\, 2020\, oil on canvas\, 120 x 180 cm

SUMMARY:MAC Art Galleries - USA
DESCRIPTION:MAC Art Galleries is a contemporary art gallery with three locations in Jupiter & Ft. Lauderdale\, Florida\, USA. MAC houses one of the largest and most diverse art collections in South Florida of artworks by professional and recognized artists from around the world. In 2020\, MAC Art Galleries was named Best Gallery in Florida by American Art Awards. \n  \nVisionary and driving force behind the gallery is owner & gallery owner Mary Ann Cohen. She looks back on over 35 years of international experience in the visual arts and has become one of the most successful and respected art dealers in the USA. She and her team of experts work together with a large network of artists and dealers. For more than 20 years MAC Art Galleries have been making works of art available to private collectors as well as to other art dealers\, galleries\, designers\, architects and consultants. The works of MAC artists are sold internationally\, and many works are part of the permanent collections of hotels\, restaurants\, companies\, public and private buildings and museums. \n  \n  \nMAC Art Galleries Conviction\nA work of art should not only inspire\, but also perfectly complement its surroundings. A large room is defined by what is in it. Beautiful furniture is only part of the equation; a work of art can transform a sophisticated room into something unforgettable. Rooms can be transformed with the thoughtful presence of well-curated visual art to make them both powerful and timeless. \n  \n  \nWhat gallery owner Mary Ann Cohen says about Brixy\n  \nDietmar Brixy layers thick\, dreamy compositions\, otherwise swirling strong lines to pieces that have a certain lightness and strength at the same time. In modern\, contemporary homes with open floor plans\, art really must be an aesthetic centrepiece\, and Brixy adds a breathtaking touch to the home of a South Florida art collector. \n \n  \nDiscover\, 2014\, Öl auf Nessel\, 180 x 60 cm\n  \nThe German artist forms large grooves of colour\, layered in modern and elegant compositions. With his fingers he creates swirling\, precise clouds that flow across the canvas. This is not simply finger painting\, Brixy’s movements require precision and an exact technique. \n  \n \nDiscover\, 2013\, Öl auf Nessel\, 160 x 50 cm\n  \nBrixy’s ability to execute these precise methods by seamlessly inserting many primary and disparate shades of colour without mixing them into a continuous stroke is deceptive of his technical training as a sculptor. He effortlessly combines the subdued minimalist nuances of the desert with loud reds and cheerful yellows\, starry pink with sea-like turquoise. Black figures heavily and effortlessly in his compositions. There are tree-like earthly scenes\, but also otherworldly\, geometric scenes that invite you to dream. \n  \n \nSurprise\, 2015\, Öl auf Nessel\, 180 x 80 cm\n  \nBRIXY & MAC Art Galleries\n  \nSince 2015 the artist Dietmar Brixy is represented by MAC Art Galleries in the USA. \n  \nExhibitions:\n\nMac Fine Art\, Fort Lauderdale\, Brixy by “XXL Abstracts” (GS)\nMiami Art Week – Red Dot Miami with Mac Fine Art\, Fort Lauderdale\, USA (GS)\nMAC Fort Lauderdale\, MASS District Art Walk\, Fort Lauderdale\, USA (GS)\nMAC Jupiter Gallery\, “Other Worlds. SUMMARY:JAM SESSION Part II
DESCRIPTION:Like a “JAM SESSION” in music\, the year 2020 also requires a good deal of improvisation. Whether private\, business or political – all participants and positions in our society must constantly adapt to the changing conditions. But these challenges can be not only difficulties but also opportunities. An opportunity for renewal and development. Just like the outstanding artists of contemporary history\, who perceived their epoch with their works\, predicted revolutionary developments\, showed new paths or reminded us of past paths in order to be able to learn from them for the future. \n  \nExhibition title: JAM SESSION Part II \nForm: Group exhibition \nDate: 22.11. – 13.12.2020 \n  \nIn view of the measures taken to contain the corona pandemic\, the opening and closing of the exhibition will not take place. \nThe valid protective requirements as well as the known rules of hygiene and conduct apply. \n  \nChristian Marx Gallery \nim stilwerk \nGrünstr. 15 \n40212 Düsseldorf

SUMMARY:PARALLELE
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition in Luxembourg\nGila Paris\, director of the CULTUREINSIDE GALLERY\, is delighted to present the artists selected for the Luxembourg Art Week 2020 in her gallery in this new exhibition in Luxembourg. \n  \n  \nThis is what Gila Paris says about the artists:\n  \nBRIXY creates in his own artistic cosmos an imaginary world of the possible and draws the viewer into seas unleashed with colour\, full of natural and primitive forces\, scenarios of newly invented mythologies.\nHis organic approach to painting\, from the representation of nature to abstraction\, is what makes his success: He constantly reinvents himself without ever giving up his fundamental belief in the unity of life and work. For the artist\, art and life form a unity. \n \n  \n  \nThierry BRUET\, painter and sculptor for more than 35 years\, is a master in the classical technique of oil painting\, the realisation of great secular portraits and monumental decorative works. His works can be found with numerous collectors and in prestigious places all over the world. In the words of Nathalie Becker: “Thierry Bruet is a two-headed painter who uses irony and a delightful iconoclastic humour\, while showing an incredible mastery of oil painting that gives his works a refinement and elegance that takes your breath away. » \n \n  \n  \nJan KALAB is a Czech artist who began his career with graffiti in the early 1990s\, after the fall of the Soviet Union. His adolescence\, born in 1978\, was marked by this historical turning point and he was quickly convinced of the rise of street art\, which is synonymous with demands and freedoms. After his success in the world of street art\, Jan Kaláb obtained a master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2006. From now on\, canvas replaced concrete and he developed a deep attraction for abstraction\, kinetic art and depth games\, combining painting and sculpture in infinite variations around the themes of time and movement. \n \n  \n  \n  \nExhibition title: PARALLELE \n  \nArtists: \nBrixy – Germany \nThierry Bruet – France \nJan Kalab – Czech Republic \n  \nDate: 14.11. – 27.02.2021

SUMMARY:MESSAGE IN A BOX
DESCRIPTION:Brixys play with the colour blue\nby Dr. Dietmar Schuth\, Museum for the colour blue\, Schwetzingen\, Germany \n  \nThe new series by Dietmar Brixy\, shown here as an impressive wall installation\, bears a mysterious title. What message might be hidden in these boxes? Many of these new pictures are built as wooden boxes and present themselves as three-dimensional painted wall objects. Other pictures in this series are mounted on the back of smaller boxes and protrude from the wall\, so that the actual picture carrier\, the wooden board\, seems to float. Their backs are additionally coloured with neon colours in orange\, yellow or pink\, which reflect on the white wall without any artificial lighting. This creates a kind of aura\, a magical glow that mysteriously surrounds every picture and almost transforms the floating state into a flying state. \n  \n \nInstallation: Message in a Box\, 2020\, oil on wood\nEven more magical\, even mythical\, are the pictures themselves.\n  \nThey are dominated by the probably most mysterious of all colours\, the colour blue. The hard wood used as the base for the pictures allows a continuous progression of the most diverse shades of blue between light cyan and dark ultramarine\, between a daylight sky blue and an evening moonlight blue. This dark blue approaches the nocturnal black and is reminiscent of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe\, who generally understood the blue of the sky as a brightened black of space. The light blue\, on the other hand\, approaches more closely the colour theory of Isaac Newton\, who understood blue as a prismatic refraction of sunlight\, as part of the colour spectrum that Brixy stages in his pictures as a paraphrase of a sunset or in the form of a meandering rainbow. \n  \n \nMessage in a Box\, 2020\, oil on wood\, 120 x 160 x 22 cm\n  \nGoethe and Newton did not like each other\, they even fought each other.\nWhile Newton today is considered the father of modern colour theory\, which is a physical science\, Goethe’s theory of colours is scientifically outdated. He understood colours rather as a psychological phenomenon and is therefore still popular today\, especially with artists who have an emotional access to colours\, do not want to know anything about the refractive index of light and do not measure their colour values as wavelengths in the nanometre range. \nDietmar Brixy is therefore close to good old Goethe in that his paintings evoke moods that cannot be measured. They connect emotionally with elementary experiences of nature\, such as the Blue Hour\, which comes to life very atmospherically in the new series “Message in a Box”. What is meant is the short time between day and twilight\, when the blue in the sky intensifies. Physicists explain this particularly beautiful blue by additional refractions of the setting sunlight at the ozone layer\, but this has only recently become known and is not generally known. More important is a physiological aspect: The light colours red and yellow quickly lose their power at dusk because they demand a lot of energy from our eyes\, but blue is a neurologically rather weak stimulus for the eye and therefore at dusk it is the last colour that our sense of colour can still recognise. \n  \n \nMessage in a Box\, 2020\, oil on wood\, 27 x 36 x 5 cm\n  \nIt was above all the 19th century Romantics who felt particularly at home in the blue hour.\nThe daytime human being loses its rationally controlled sovereignty as the light diminishes and opens up to irrational aspects\, fears and\, in the past\, superstition. Even the Brothers Grimm described blue as the colour of spirits and demons. Today all this may be forgotten and only be alive in children’s books. Also our evening sky and the night are no longer naturally illuminated. Electric light has long since chased away all witches and ghosts. But in the blue pictures of Dietmar Brixy\, a remnant of the old magic can still be felt. \nPerhaps this aspect is also one of the hidden messages of this so atmospheric wall installation\, the light pollution. Thus the many fig leaves in Dietmar Brixy’s pictures appear in a strange blue\, not green as if illuminated by the sun\, but in a transparent\, artificial blue of cold neon lamps. The fig leaf has been a major motif in Dietmar Brixy’s pictorial world for decades\, but never before has this old symbol of paradise been seen in such a strange way. It almost melts into tears and may bring a melancholic aspect to Dietmar Brixy’s Blue Hours\, which makes him a little thoughtful. \n  \nEssay about “MESSAGE IN A BOX” by Dr. Christel Heybrock \n  \nSee more works from “MESSAGE IN A BOX” here \n

SUMMARY:Happy?
DESCRIPTION:The Mannheim artist Dietmar Brixy will once again open the doors of the Altes Pumpwerk in Mannheim-Neckarau for this year’s exhibition “HAPPY? From 25 September to 18 October\, Brixy invites you to take a tour of his Gesamtkunstwerk\, where he will also present his latest series of works\, HAPPY. Of course with due distance and under consideration of general hygiene measures. The exhibition will be supplemented with animal sculptures and objects by guest artist Matthias Garff in cooperation with Galerie Tammen\, Berlin. \n  \nThe year 2020 is marked by uncertainty\, especially in the art scene. The Corona crisis is dominating life and brought everything to a standstill at a stroke. For a long time it was not clear whether there could even be an exhibition at the Altes Pumpwerk this year. It is therefore all the more pleasing that public events are once again possible\, subject to conditions and consideration for all participants. However\, the pandemic shows us how fleeting our accustomed life can be. “Despite all adversities\, one should consciously live happy moments”\, says Brixy. He expresses this in his new series of works HAPPY. It is about the question: \n  \nAre we allowed to be happy at all during this time?\n  \n“Yes\,” says Brixy resolutely\, because it is precisely in difficult situations that we have to search all the more for our happiness. Art means happiness and for this very reason\, as an antipole\, it should give people happy moments. The title HAPPY is a conscious play with expectations: Brixy is not about a concrete representation of happiness. The viewer is rather challenged to recognise happiness for himself\, as a subjective perception of shapes and colours. \nThe HAPPY series of works is characterised by deep blue shades as well as light pastel shades. They have a calming effect and open the view into the distance. A colourful canopy unfolds above them\, like a rainbow from which melting fig leaves sprout. “The fig leaf has been a leitmotif in Dietmar Brixy’s pictorial world for decades\, but this old symbol of paradise has never been seen in such an alienating way. It almost melts into tears and may bring a melancholy aspect to the Blue Hours of Dietmar Brixy\, which makes him a little thoughtful”\, writes Dr. Dietmar Schuth\, director of the Museum für die Farbe Blau in Schwetzingen\, about Brixy’s latest installation “Message in a box” (which is composed of different wooden modules). The pictures are not always characterised by happy moments and some of them sometimes seem gloomy. And yet\, fragments of individual moments of happiness keep flashing up. Life is marked by contrasts – happiness is never permanent. \n \nMessage in a box\, 2020\, Öl auf Holz\, 120 x 160 x 22 cm \n  \nBrixy exhibition in Mannheim also shows animal sculptures and objects by guest artist Matthias Garff\nThis year\, the presentation of his own paintings will be supplemented by animal sculptures and objects by the artist Matthias Garff. Using found objects and everyday objects\, he creates animal figures that take up environmentally critical facets in form and material. For despite their outward cheerfulness\, they indirectly tell of survival in an environment shaped by humans. Born in Solothurn (CH) in 1986\, the artist attended the Dresden University of Fine Arts and now lives in Leipzig. His works have already been presented in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. \nGarff presents sculptures of chaffinches\, robins\, hummingbirds and insect boxes\, among others\, and thus provides a humorous to surreal view of the complex interaction between man and nature. He is concerned with artistic ambivalences. “He is a sculptor\, not a caricaturist. He works primarily in the material\, in the form and not in the broad field of world-wearied environmental criticism\,” says Christoph Tannert\, director of Künstlerhaus Bethanien\, Berlin. \n \nLarge insect box II\, 2020\, mixed media\, 160 x 200 cm \n  \nNature as a connection between the two artists\nThe invisible connection between the two artists lies in nature\, which they weave into their works in different ways\, creating moments of cheerfulness but also stimulating a critical view of current issues. With “HAPPY?” Brixy wants to take visitors into foreign worlds and awaken distant longings. With his pictures he creates his own artistic moments of happiness. Even if the search is never complete\, one should live happy moments consciously. \n“You can be happy about happiness! When I paint I have my greatest happiness\, and this is also reflected in my paintings”\, says artist Brixy.\n  \n  \nExhibition “HAPPY? \nfrom 25.09.-18.10.2020 \nOld pumping station Mannheim-Neckarau \nAufeldstraße 19 \n68199 Mannheim \n  \nSpecial Guest: Galerie Tammen\, Berlin | Matthias Garff Objects – Sculptures \nOpening hours during the exhibition \nFriday 14-19 h | Saturday and Sunday 11-16 h (and by appointment) \nIn view of the measures taken to contain the Corona pandemic\, we will refrain from an opening and closing ceremony. \nThe valid protective requirements as well as the known rules of hygiene and conduct apply. \nSufficient parking spaces are available in the car park of the administrative building of the GKM Mannheim.

SUMMARY:HAPPY DISCOVER(Y)
DESCRIPTION:Digital Exhibition at the Christian Marx Gallery\n  \nCreativity is particularly important in difficult times. After all\, how can an artist or gallery owner present works if no public events are permitted? As in so many other areas\, digitization offers a wide range of possibilities. Although a virtual exhibition in digital spaces is not a new invention\, for many it is a new discovery. Especially in times of contact restrictions and event bans due to the given corona situation\, virtual exhibitions are an ideal way to present art in a realistic environment. \nIt is about offering an alternative to those interested in art\, but also about continuing to show presence as an art scene. For this reason\, the Christian Marx Galerie from Düsseldorf will be presenting various works by Brixy digitally from 5 June to 31 August 2020. \nAs soon as you enter the digital exhibition\, you will find yourself in a modern\, bright presentation room. A small blackboard provides information about the artist\, just like in a real gallery. With the mouse you move in the three-dimensional art room\, past the walls with Brixy’s colourful pictures. With only one click the picture enlarges. The visitor can zoom in and out and thus explore details in peace and quiet. \n  \nHAPPY  celebrates premiere in digital exhibition\nThere is a lot to discover. Entering the virtual exhibition\, a picture of the new series of works HAPPY awaits the visitor directly to his right. It is all about the question of whether one can still be happy in this day and age. \nFor Brixy\, happiness lies in experiencing nature. It is an everlasting source of inspiration in his work. As in so many of his paintings\, branches and leaves weave their way across the canvas in his latest work. Massive garlands meander across the surfaces\, forming organic structures and tapering into filigree lines. Fig leaves sprout from them\, then melt away. Perhaps a symbol of transience? The line plays an important role in Brixy’s works. It possibly stands for different paths of life\, which are closely intertwined and then drift apart again. \n  \nIn the paintings of his HORIZON series\, the line forms a vivid symbol of the fusion of heaven and earth. The fascination of the view into the horizon is deeply rooted in human beings. Brixy takes us into mysterious worlds\, he opens wide landscapes and thus the space for free association. \nBrixy never fixes the viewer. Rather he encourages a closer look. In this way\, individual levels\, shapes and also shades become visible\, culminating in an expressive overall play of light and colour. In his DISCOVER works\, Brixy creates luminous worlds of images that challenge the viewer’s perspective. Deep\, contrasting levels emerge and create a vibrant pictorial experience that rotates between representationalism and abstraction. \n  \nThe digital exhibition – a happy discovery\nViewing a Brixy work one can experience many  “happy discoveries”. What makes me happy? What is important to me? These are subtle questions that grow with your own perception. Happiness\, like everything\, is transient. Only memories live on. And often art can stimulate them\, give them a new shape. Even in virtual space these mechanisms work\, if you allow them to. Join Brixy on a virtual tour of discovery and embark on the search for happiness. \n  \n  \nThis is what gallery owner Christian Marx says: \n“Wander through our exhibition on your home computer and discover the incredible power of Dietmar Brixy’s pastose painting. Refreshingly\, the new series of works “Happy” shows us the joyful use of color and form! \n  \n \nHere you can go directly to the virtual exhibition of the Christian Marx Gallery. \n  \n  \nExhibition Duration \n05. June to 31. August 2020

SUMMARY:ACTION & ABSTRACTION
DESCRIPTION:ACTION & ABSTRACTION – Exhibition at CultureInside Gallery in Luxembourg\n  \nMany artists and galleries have taken a little – perhaps involuntary – time out in 2020. But even in times of standstill\, neither Brixy nor his gallery owners were idle. From June 4\, the time has finally come again: paintings from the HORIZON series\, together with works by artists Pierre-Luc Poujol and Jacques Nestlé\, make up the exhibition “Action & Abstraction”. They will be exhibited from June 04 to September 05\, 2020 at the Luxembourg CultureInside Gallery. \n  \nEnergetic\, stormy seas of colour – these are associations that many people associate with Brixy’s art. His works never stand still. When looking at them\, new details always stand out\, the angle of vision changes\, one is in constant motion to grasp the manifold streams of colour in their entirety. But even one’s own interpretation does not remain rigid\, sometimes one thinks one sees a river\, then again a branch. Or a fork in the road? \n  \n \nDetail from Brixy Painting\, Horizon\, 2019\, 80 x 80 cm \n\nThe Action & Abstraction concept is unmistakably inherent in Brixy’s artworks\nShapes\, colours and levels meet\, interlock\, and at the same time push apart again. The concept of Action & Abstraction is unmistakably inherent in Brixy’s works of art. The very first act of painting is marked by the artist sprinkling a black primed canvas with countless coloured dots in the manner of action painting. But even after that\, the creative process remains a veritable tour de force when Brixy reaches into the paint and shapes it on the canvas\, only to later scratch out forms and lines with spatulas\, combs and other tools. \n  \nIn the HORIZON series this actionism can be seen in many different ways: Colorful garlands of paint rage over the scenes. Behind them\, differently designed layers of light and shadow form a perspective view into unknown landscapes. Again and again\, the black background flashes curiously out\, but disapears behind melting fig leaves. \n  \nEven though the title “Horizon” was chosen quite programmatically\, Brixy’s paintings are abstract in their associative gestures. The horizon stands for the distant encounter of heaven and earth and is thus a symbol of longings\, utopias\, and ultimately the crossing of boundaries. This contrasting interplay of representationalism and abstraction is inherent in all of Brixy’s works. In HORIZON in particular\, it opens up the legibility of the pictures. The obvious is combined with imagination and leaves room for interpretation. \n  \n \nDetail from Brixy Painting\, Horizon\, 2019\, 80 x 80 cm \n  \n  \nThis is what gallery owner Gila Paris says:\nIn his own artistic cosmos\, Brixy creates a world of pictorial possibilities full of fantasy for the spectator\, who is drawn into stormy seas of paint\, landscapes of caves\, and ancient mythological scenarios. His oeuvre is a permanent quest\, ostentatiously creative and richly varied\, a transformation of his own existence into currents of color\, an intense transformation into poetry of experiences that represents a continuous assertion of life. \n  \n  \nOpening hours \n04. June – 05. September 2020 only by appointment \nIf you too would like to get an idea of Brixy’s HORIZON series\, the artist cordially invites you to visit the exhibition “Action & Abstraction” at the CultureInside Gallery in Luxembourg. Due to the current regulations\, a prior appointment is necessary. \n  \nMore \nRegistrations and general information can be found on the gallery page.

SUMMARY:art KARLSRUHE 2020
DESCRIPTION:Brixy two times at the art KARLSRUHE 2020\n  \nHis new paintings from the series “Horizon”\, “Discover” and “Eden” will be presented at the booth of the Berlin gallery Tammen (hall 3\, booth J 27). An absolute highlight of the One-Artist-Show is also the installation “Sundown – You better take care”\, conceived newly for the Karlsruhe fair\, which is composed of different wooden modules (for a detailed description see below). Dietmar Brixy is also prominently represented with further paintings at the booth of the Christian Marx Galerie in Düsseldorf (hall 4\, booth L 02). \n  \nAs an international art fair for classical modern art and contemporary art\, art KARLSRUHE has enjoyed increasing popularity for many years. More than 200 galleries from Germany and abroad have been presenting an exciting selection of artistic positions here since 2004. The consistently high level of the fair has been guaranteed for years by the art KARLSRUHE advisory board. In consultation with curator Ewald Karl Schrade\, seven proven experts will decide whether to take part in the fair. \n  \nAt art KARLSRUHE 2020\, special attention will be paid to the exhibition of sculpture and its various variations. Arranged on generous exhibition areas between the bunks\, sculptures flank the varied gallery programme and guarantee the visitor an exciting art experience. The art KARLSRUHE range will also show special print graphics. This will be submitted by the exhibiting galleries and also curated by the advisory board. A special exhibition of the Hans-Peter Haas Collection entitled “Serigraphs of great masters from Ackermann to Vasarely” rounds off the renowned art fair. \nDietmar Brixy is looking forward to welcoming you at art KARLSRUHE 2020! \n  \nExhibition \n13. to 16. February 2020\, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. \nPreview \n12. February 2020\, 2 p.m. bis 9 p.m. (only with preview card) \nMore \nInformation & Prices \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \nDietmar Brixy and his installation „Sundown – You Better Take Care“\nOne-Artist-Show at Galerie Tammen\, Booth H3/J31 at Art Karlsruhe 2020 \n  \nWith a new variation of the installation “Sundown – You Better Take Care” (2019\, oil on wood\, various formats)\, the Mannheim artist Dietmar Brixy surprises the viewer with works that will be on view at the booth of the Berlin gallery Tammen (H3/J31). \n  \nThe installation celebrated its premiere as part of the exhibition “Passion – 15 Years of Art in the Old Pump Station”. Until recently\, it was presented in his studio in Mannheim-Neckarau and has delighted the art public. Brixy’s newly conceived installation for the fair consists of wooden modules of various sizes. These not only dynamise the wall with their different depths\, but also penetrate the room individually. “For centuries\, wood has been the classic medium of painting. Canvas and nettle have other qualities and are both relatively young in their use in art. Dietmar Brixy dares to resort to this classical medium because he says that only with wood he can create a real\, spatial staging without the lie of perspective\,” explains Professor Dr. Dieter Ronte\, former director of the Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna\, the Sprengel Museum Hannover and the Kunstmuseum Bonn. \n  \nIn the enormously atmospheric installation “Sundown – You Better Take Care”\, Brixy is once again on the trail of nature. The protagonists of his paintings\, which will also be presented at the Christian Marx Galerie (Booth H4/L02)\, are gnarled branches and seemingly fragile fig leaves. They are already known from other periods and series of the artist’s work. “The glowing sun\, which indicates the horizon at this sunset\, and the natural\, vegetable elements that drip down from above\, rain\, fall\, dynamize the compositions. They dissolve the horizontal in favour of the vertical\,” explains Ronte. Branches and foliage unfold their beauty before the endless vastness of empty landscapes at sunset. They are staged in different zoom settings\, sometimes moving somewhat further into the distance or into microscopic proximity. \n  \nThe artist treads new paths\nBut despite his own handwriting\, the Mannheim artist treads new paths in many respects. He floods the room with light and colour in an unknown way. Brixy achieves this unique effect by backing individual wooden cubes with a neon-pink body and giving them an almost spherical glow – without any electrical lighting. Some of the modules look like floating light objects. They seem to fluoresce out of themselves and envelop their surroundings in a soft glow of light. \nBrixy plays with daylight\, staging its atmospheric diffusion and sensuality. The result is different moods at every hour of the day that carry his installation. From quiet melancholy to dangerously glowing heat. He orchestrates light as an artistic and aesthetic medium\, incorporating it into his compositions and letting them breathe. “Brixy knows that his paintings look different in the morning\, at noon and in the evening with different lighting. And he also knows that the viewers with their individual conditioning perceive the pictures differently and quite subjectively. With him\, we are dealing with an enormous vitality\, energy\, fantasy\, power and emotion – but also science\, explanation and interpretation\,” says Professor Dr. Dieter Ronte. Space seems to expand and open up new horizons of perception. \n  \nBrixy enchants with the beauty of the moment\nWith the glowing shades of red that “Sundown – You Better Take Care” radiates into the real exhibition space\, Brixy abducts the viewer into romantic sunsets and enchants him with the beauty of the moment. But the installation implies more than this one\, superficial level of association and is already reminiscent of the subtitle “You Better Take Care”. Silently and quietly\, it pushes itself into the level of consciousness of the viewer and whispers to him: “It’s better if you watch out”.  “He doesn’t say: “Enjoy” or “Look at it” – he doesn’t say: “Think of William Turner”\, “Caspar David Friedrich” or “Eduard Manet”\, says Professor Dr. Dieter Ronte. \n“You Better Take Care” seems more like an appeal by the artist to the viewer. “Suddenly awake\, he will ask himself whether Brixy in this work also poses completely different questions and seeks answers. If we have to watch out for something\, it has something to do with the weather\, the landscape\, climate change. All these pictures are not only picturesque inventions – they are very diverse in their social message. It is precisely this aspect\,” says Ronte\, “that I particularly appreciate in Dietmar Brixy’s works\, because they are all directed against the ‘unification’ of the world. We must be grateful to him for this.

SUMMARY:Stillleben 2
DESCRIPTION:The gallery owner Werner Tammen dedicates his last exhibition this year to silent things. \n  \nThe group show entitled “Stillleben II” will present paintings\, drawings and sculptures by various artists. \n  \nDietmar Brixy will also be present\, whose recent panel paintings from the “Room” series focus on completely new aspects of his work. \n  \nAt the center of his oil paintings is nature in the form of branch and leaf structures\, which are staged in different zoom settings on the painting ground in an exciting way. Despite his own signature\, Brixy treads new paths with these compositions. For he floods the pictorial space with light and color in a hitherto unknown way. \n  \nFig leaves unfold their beauty partly in microscopic proximity before the eye of the beholder. The tenderness and fragility of her fine leaf structures are synonymous with transience. \n  \nDuration of exhibition: 06. December 2019 – 12. SUMMARY:Brixy in Korea
DESCRIPTION:Dietmar Brixy also flew into the South Korean sky with a work from his current series HORIZON. \n  \nOn the initiative of the Berlin gallery owner Werner Tammen\, the Mannheim artist was invited to participate in the project “Flag Art Traces in the Wind” as part of the Cheongju Crafts Biennale 2019 in South Korea. \n  \nThe international project was curated by Felix Park\, among others. They attracted numerous visitors and created a harmonious connection between the exhibits of the Biennale and the outdoor space of nature. \n  \nDuration\n07.10.2019 – 17.11.2019 \n  \nVenue \nEntrance from the exhibition hall to the fortification in Jeongbuk-dong (Korea) \n  \nAttendee\nSelected and invited *Artists \n  \nGenre\nAll types of visual arts\, including 2D works\, 3D works and photos. \n  \nBrixy Participation\nHorizon\, 2018\, oil on canvas\, 180 x 120 cm
