Art Chiemsee 2025

Brixy at Art Chiemsee 2025 – Art in a Beautiful Place

The summer of 2025 brings a special highlight:  Dietmar Brixy will be part of the prestigious exhibition Art Chiemsee 2025, taking place from 29 June to 21 September at the Gallery in the Old Town Hall in Prien. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Chiemsee region, this multifaceted exhibition offers an experience that is powerful, atmospheric, and rich in artistic depth.

Art as a Living Landscape

Art Chiemsee once again celebrates the idea of a unique artistic "summer retreat" – this time featuring Dietmar Brixy. The exhibition goes far beyond simply showcasing high-caliber art; it presents a sensory, immersive experience.

Instead of a traditional gallery tour, visitors step into a vivid and multi-layered landscape of contemporary art – dynamic and engaging, much like an art fair. Each participating artist is given an individual, curated space that highlights their personal style and allows for a close and intimate encounter with the artworks.

Participating Artists:

Stefan Szczesny, Jiri Dokoupil, Markus Lüpertz, Jörg Immendorff, Tony Cragg, Stephan Kaluza, Dieter Nuhr, Igor Oleinikov, Ben Buechner, Siegmar Polke, Dietmar Brixy, Damien Hirst, Erwin Wurm, David Gerstein, Julian Schnabel, Imi Knoebel, Bernar Venet, Jeff Koons, Günther Uecker, Gottfried Helnwein, Heinz Mack, Gerhard Richter, Jonathan Meese, A.R. Penck, Hermann Nitsch

The exhibited works span around five decades of contemporary art history. They not only reflect artistic and stylistic developments, but also explore crucial social issues – from themes of nature and creation to questions of transience and human identity in a complex world.

These are works that speak of life's fragility, the struggle for expression, and the tension between nature and culture. Poetic, sometimes provocative – but always powerful.

At the center are imagined, emotionally charged visual worlds – places where the human and the natural merge. Even the act of seeing itself becomes a subject: Art is not just displayed here, it is questioned – as mirror, as substitute for nature, as profound existential experience.

Brixy: Expression through Color and Texture

Dietmar Brixy brings his unmistakable visual language to Prien – with dynamic, multilayered works full of energy, depth, and movement. Using brush, spatula, and hand, he creates compositions that evolve organically, capturing the essence of growth, transformation, and natural rhythms.

His paintings align seamlessly with the core of Art Chiemsee’s curatorial vision: presenting art and nature not as separate subjects, but as intertwined spaces of experience. In the Chiemsee setting, his works gain an almost meditative power – quiet, yet deeply stirring.
