On 10 October, 2015, Dietmar Brixy received Mannheims Historic Preservation Award 2015 for "the exemplary restoration and conservation of old pumping station in Neckarau". The award was presented by the Cityscape Association of Mannheim at a ceremony in Brixys home and atelier the "Old Pumping Station Neckarau".

"It took the great imagination and enormous energy of the artist to acquire the decayed and threatened building and transform it into the modern jewel that it is today. A piece of industrial heritage has been saved while ensuring a contemporary use as a studio and living quarters ."
