WORKS 2005

Dietmar Brixy

Dietmar Brixy turns his attention to the vertical thrust of bamboo stems. Earlier travel impressions from journeys to Asia, Malaysia in particular, and the experience of the jungle not only take shape as a profusion of plants in the pump station’s gardens, they also leave their mark in Brixy’s pictorial language. His bamboo culms seem to break free of the picture plane. With this year’s exhibition “Roots”, the painter again demonstrates that nature is his vital source of inspiration.
The installation “Flowerpatch” (240 x 540 cm) also belongs to Brixys reflexion of natur.

» Also, in his most recent paintings, the eye is captured at firt by the plasticity of forms, of red blades on gree, of yellow-green-blades on blue, (…) of turquoise on dark (…) – there is hardly any combination that Brixy would not risk trying. «
