In his current series WANDERLUST, Dietmar Brixy transforms the classical motif of landscape into a visual exploration of inner and outer movement. His paintings intertwine impasto brushwork with topographic allusions that shift between references to real landscapes and the dissolution of space into abstraction. Streams, mountain ranges, and vegetation appear in suggestion, dissolving within the rhythm of painterly gesture.

Characteristic of the series is an intense interplay of flow, emergence, and condensation. The dynamic color transitions, combined with clear, centering structures, create pictorial spaces conceived as passages—opening the gaze inward as well as outward.

For Brixy, Wanderlust is not escapism, but a conscious engagement with change, transition, and openness. His painting thus becomes a mental terrain, recharted with every step and every movement of the eye. The viewer is not guided by a narrative but invited to trace their own paths.
