WANDERLUST begins where the familiar is no longer taken for granted. In his ongoing series of works, Dietmar Brixy explores the deeply human longing to cross boundaries, enter unfamiliar spaces, and open oneself to the unknown.

 

This is not merely about moving from one place to another. Brixy understands wanderlust as an inner attitude: the willingness to let go of certainties, embrace change, and continually reconsider one’s own way of seeing. His paintings emerge from this space in between—between departure and arrival, memory and expectation, the external world and inner experience.

 

Within this context, landscape becomes a reflection of an emotional and spiritual process. Horizons open up, paths dissolve, forms emerge only to disappear again. Nothing remains definitively fixed. The paintings preserve the sense that beyond the visible, something else is beginning: an unknown space, a new possibility, perhaps even a different perspective on one’s own life.

 

WANDERLUST therefore does not represent an escape from reality. Rather, it speaks of the courage to encounter reality anew. Of curiosity about what has not yet been named. And of the confidence that change does not signify loss alone, but also openness, freedom, and the possibility of a new beginning.
